LEAD VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION

PROGRAMMING, EVENTS & COMMITTEE ROLE

Overview

McCarren Tennis Association is looking for a Programming & Events Lead to help shape and execute our seasonal calendar. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to be deeply involved in the community and bring great tennis programming to life.

 

You’ll work closely with the Board and committee to plan, organize, and host a mix of social and competitive events throughout the season.

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Build and manage the seasonal programming calendar with the Board

  • Lead execution of community events, socials, and mixers

  • Support core programming including ladders and doubles tournaments

  • Own event logistics from start to finish:

  • Guest lists and attendance

  • On-site hosting and flow

  • Vendor coordination (courts, food, partners, etc.)

  • Work with brand and community partners to:

  • Secure prizes and event support

  • Ensure agreed deliverables are executed

  • Act as the point person for event-related communication

  • Bring new ideas to keep programming fresh, engaging, and well-attended

Timing & Commitment

 

Peak season: May through September (with some activity into October)

Light involvement year-round for planning and coordination

Availability for events, typically evenings and weekends.

Who You Are:

 

  • Genuinely interested in tennis and community building

  • Organized and able to manage multiple events at once

  • Comfortable hosting and interacting with members

  • Proactive, reliable, and detail-oriented

  • Experience in events, partnerships, or community programming is a plus

  • Already part of the McCarren community is a strong plus
