We just lit McCarren Park.

An all-volunteer 501(c)(3) raised $300,000 from the neighborhood to bring state-of-the-art lighting to all seven public tennis courts. Free to play, donated directly to the public, and now open after dark.

​

Over two years, community donations—backed by USTA grants and approved by NYC Parks—funded the design, permitting, and construction from the ground up: eight new poles, high-efficiency LED fixtures, and completely upgraded electrical infrastructure.

The result is a fully lit, seven-court public facility at one of Brooklyn's busiest recreation hubs, adding over a month of extra court time back to the community every year.

 

OUR CURRENT PRIORITIES

💡 Phase 1: Completed

Installed new LED lighting across all 7 courts, extending evening play hours, increasing safety, and returning over a month of court time to the public every year.

🎾 Phase 2: Court Resurfacing

Resurface all 7 courts to fix wear and tear, improve playability, and preserve long-term usability.

​

🛠️ Phase 3: Facility Upgrades

Repair fencing, upgrade benches, and improve landscaping to ensure the courts remain a welcoming, well-cared-for public space.

➕ Phase 4: Public Court Advocacy

Advocate for new free, open-to-play public courts to support North Brooklyn's growing tennis community.
